Auguri!

Conoscete il gioco dove una persona dice una frase a bassa voce nell’orecchio della persona accanto che a sua volta ripete quello che ha sentito nell’orecchio della persona accanto a lui e così via fino ad arrivare all’ultima persona che dice ad alta voce quello che crede di avere sentito? Le risate sono assicurate perche difficilmente la frase che esce alla fine corrisponde a quella che la prima persona intendeva. Questa mattina Lucio deve avere detto a Zacky di dirmi ‘Tanti auguri’. Così un attimo dopo c’era Zacky a bussare insistente alla porta del bagno per dirmi ‘Tanti Buon Compleanno!’ … e questo, secondo me, è proprio un bel augurio!

Do you know the game where one person whispers something in the ear of the person next to him who then in turn repeats what he heard in the ear of the next person and so on to the last person who then repeats what he heard out loud? It’s guaranteed to get a laugh because what comes out in the end is almost sure to have undergone some hilarious transformation from what the first person intended. This morning Lucio must have told Zacky to tell me ‘Tanti auguri’ (i.e. ‘Many (best) wishes’). A moment later, there is Zacky banging at the bathroom door, telling me ‘Tanti Buon Compleanno’, which would translate literally ‘Many Happy Birthday’… and that, if you ask me, is a mighty fine way to wish someone a Happy Birthday!
